Overbite (Malocclusion)
Class II Malocclusion - This type of malocclusion happens where the upper teeth stick out past the lower teeth commonly referred to as an "overbite", "over jet", "deepbite" or "buck teeth".
Teeth in proper occlusion allow for complete biting and grinding of food and prevent other problems, like traumatic tooth damage from years of improper wear. Any time your teeth are displaced by more than 3mm it is considered a malocclusion.
Large overbites can cause back teeth to wear excessively and can even lead to jaw joint problems in certain cases. If you have an overbite that is causing you problems, it is important to be evaluated by a dental professional. Your specific situation may or may not require dental treatment, but the only way to know for sure is to come in to our dentist office and sit down with a dentist and get an evaluation.
