Lingual Arch Appliance

A lingual arch is a space maintainer that keeps teeth in their correct position to allow for future teeth to descend into their correct position. Two bands are placed around the molars and then a wire specific to the purpose of your arch is installed between the two bands. This keeps the molars from migrating forward and prevents them from blocking off space of teeth that develop later.

A lingual arch is an orthodontic device which is connected to both molars in the upper or lower dental arch. A lingual arch is used when early loss of baby teeth or when lower teeth are slightly crowded.

Lingual arches are also used to move or rotate molars, reshape the whole dental arch, or expand the intermolar distance.
